Grafton Group is a multi-channel distributor of construction products, with a market-leading position in the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands and Finland. The Group includes 30 brands in the retail, distribution and manufacturing space, including Buildbase, Selco and Woodies.
This meant overcoming a range of logistical challenges, including reaching and engaging disparate teams in multiple languages, sectors and locations. We knew we’d need to create a catchy and memorable tool to convey this complex information.
Each team member would need to understand their obligations under the new GDPR requirements, so we developed a unique campaign asset in the form of ‘Freddie the Folder’ which became a recognisable icon for GDPR-related content.
This allowed us to transcend the challenge of communicating with disparate teams, and provided a ‘hook’ for relating and repeating key messages. However, we also needed to measure staff members’ individual understanding of their obligations around GDPR, so we developed a concise and easy-to-understand e-learning course for each team member to complete.
